Avery's first haircut

I have been putting off and putting off cutting Avery's hair. Here's the reason: She has so little of it! I have been so excited that it has actually been growing that I haven't wanted to lop it off! But lately it has just been hanging in her eyes and become unmanageable. I tried cutting it myself, but it didn't work . . .she wasn't having any of that! So I took her to Cool Cuts for kids and they did a great job. Of course it was really expensive, but now I think I know how to do it better! She sat in the little car, watched Dora, and sucked on a lollipop. Very well behaved!

Un-private

OK - so Pete and I had a long discussion tonight and he is really unhappy about the blog being "private". He convinced me that I shouldn't be neurotic and always worrying. So, no more having to log in . . . you can thank Pete!

Our crazy neighbors

So when my husband is around . . . he makes people do crazy things. Like make a bet with our OU neighbors for the TECH v. OU football game. The bet was this: whoevers team lost had to swim to the foutain in one of our neighborhood lakes.

Luckily, OU lost . . .John got a little wet, but was a good sport. Our entire street came out to watch, along with some other neighbors seriously questioning our sanity.

Hailey's 8 months

So, I'm a little late with Hailey's 8 month birthday, but I figured better late than never!!!

Hailey is the sweetest, happiest, chubbiest, so cute you just want to eat her up, baby! She started crawling last month and now has perfected it. She is a little speed demon. She is also playing with her brother and sister alot, and I can often hear them laughing together. We are working with Avery and Pete about sharing, because they don't really like when Hailey comes and tries to take her toys.
(Yes, I know she's right by the electrical cord . . .she was being a sly little booger and giving me the "I'm not doing anything wrong" look - I was totally in control the WHOLE time!!)



At the beginning of this month, Hailey started pulling up and is very close to standing on her own! We think she is going to be walking soon! She also is becoming independent about holding her bottle on her own!


She IDOLIZES her brother and sister and wants to be with them at all times. Avery and Hailey are now sharing a room again. Hailey is going to bed before she is fully asleep. She cries for a little bit and then settles down. I'm still a softy becuase if she is crying really hard, I'll go get her and rock her to sleep . . .but this is my last baby so I'm enjoying every minute of that!

Everytime I see her doing something new I think "What! She's only 2 months old . . .how can she be doing that?!" and I have to stop, and say to myself "Wait, she's EIGHT months!" Where has the time gone??

Gorgeous, Glorious, Grateful Day

There is one thing you can say about Houston - weather in the fall is fantastic. The kids and I have really enjoyed walking and playing around our neighborhood lately.

"Hi!" Pete very joyfully says to the police officer . . .

On Thursday, at MDO the kiddos get a lollipop from the director and it is like the best moment of their life. Well, on Tuesday they don't get one, which is always hard to explain - they don't seem to understand the difference between Tueday and Thursday. So that is the precursor to my story . . .

The kiddos were screaming coming out of MDO because of "no lollipops" and I was struggling to get them to the car. Avery grabbed my keys and it was keeping her occupied, so I didn't think anything of it. I finally had all 3 kids in the car, shut the door and was just pushing the stroller to the back when I heard "CLICK!" Avery had hit the button to lock the doors . . . with all of them inside . . . and me on the outside. . . . I had no purse, no cell phone, and my extra set was in my purse, so I quickly borrowed another parents phone to call 911.

Yes, that's right. In the middle of the parking lot at the busiest pick time of the day at MDO, the police show up to get my (laughing, pointing, snickering, waving) children out of the locked car. When the policeman opened the door Pete said "HI!" and they were just waving.

I can laugh now. It's funny, I know.

She's on the move!

Yes, that is right - we now have 3 mobile kiddos in our house! Hailey started crawling last week, and this week she is really perfecting it! I was in the kitchen yesterday while A & P were at MDO and she crawled about 1/2 way in to get me! So sweet!! She is truly enjoying her newfound freedom . . . as for mom, well I super happy for her accomplishment but a little worried for myself!

Avery, Pete and I jetted off to the Air Show the other day. We saw fighters and bombers and jets zipping by, but nothing impressed them more than the re-enactment of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I think that the planes were moving slow enough and were turning around for next passes right in front of us, so that they got the full experience. For a while I was saying "look" and pointing up. After a while Avery and Pete were pointing up at the sky and dramatically saying "Look!" whenever a plane whizzed by.






I let them out in the shade of a bomber wing and they went over to people and began to introduce themselves and then put on a dance show for them (Pete does an awsome Robot). I didn't realize that it was past their nap time until Pete fell asleep in the stroller as an F-15 Eagle zoomed by.

Halloween 2009

All my little bugs . . .so cute! Avery was a ladybug, Pete was a spider, and Hailey was a bee. A & P really enjoyed trick or treating this year. They dutifully held out their little baskets and said something along the lines of "Trick or Treat"! They even left most of their costumes on for the whole time! Thank you to my mom who made Pete's costume and bought the girls theirs!
