Hailey's 3 months!

My littlest baby girl just turned 3 months today! Whew, again with that cliche - time sure flies. In some ways it seems like 3 months and in some ways it doesn't! Hailey is all smiles, cooing and "talking" up a storm lately. She's been hanging out in the bumbo chair, which she really seems to love! The best thing is . . .she is sleeping through the night. She would love to sleep in during the morning, but I am one of those momma's that believes in schedules, so she gets up around the same time her brother and sister do.

Hailey is still sleeping in our closet because I'm nervous about moving her to Avery's room (why mess up a good thing, right?) She also gets to kind of do whatever she wants schedule-wise. With A & P, I was so regimented, but Hailey gets to pick when she eats, sleeps and just about everything else!

She has the cutest little lip quiver she does right before she starts crying. She pokes that little lip out . . .and you just want to eat it up! She so doesn't want the pacifier, but I keep trying. She spits it out continuously and then cries because she wants it!

Mommy's 30

Wow - I have been thinking the past few days . . . when did this happen? I mean, I'm not freaked out by the fact that I'm 30, just freaked out with how fast the time has seemed to fly by. I know, I know, it's such a cliche - time flies, but seriously??


I remember being in high school and thinking about what my life would be like at thirty. I didn't in my wildest dreams imagine it would be like it is now - which is a good thing. I think the greatest lesson I have learned in my 20's is that I am in no control over anything that happens in my life. Yes, I can steer this car in the direction I want to go, but at some point my foot is no longer on the gas pedal.


The kids were eerily good today - I think that was their birthday present to their old momma. My parents came in and we invited the neighbors over for cake and visiting. All in all, it was a nice day. So, on to a new decade . . .

It's getting closer . . .

As my 30th birthday is quickly approaching, it seems very fitting that I ended up spending the weeekend with some "old" friends. I'm sure that they will love that I am calling them "old" but these are people who I have know for years. My friend Tracy is 7 days older than me and June is 12 day younger than me - when we were in high school we always had fun with our June birthdays! It was great getting to see some longtime friends, since I don't see them very often. I'm hoping that we will all be able to get together more now that we live back in H-town! I went to Tracy's birthday celebration on Saturday and had a blast!

I also got to see one of my favorite friends. . . Shawnie and her brood! All of her kiddos are getting so big and it has been absolutely too long since we have seen each other. We are making plans to spend more time together at the end of the summer - I can't wait!

Momma vs. More

Why at 18 months does the word "momma" sound so similar to "more"?
Why is 5 o'clock the "bad" time according to kids?
Why do my kiddos know the word "no" and just don't want to follow it?

Why are my kids so darn cute that I can barely stand it?????

Hmm, just some thoughts that I'm pondering this morning.


I went out for the first time the other day BY MYSELF with all the kiddos. We went to the pet store! I'm trying to find things to do with them to keep them interested! Well . . .the pet store was better than the zoo! They loved it. All the animals were at their level so they could really see them moving around.

My daughter . . . she's full of personality with a capital "P"! She'll come around the corner with something on her head and just start dancing away. Luckily I've had the camera ready a few times. Little Miss Ham it Up!

The "B" Ranch

This past weekend the kiddos and I went to my parents land out in the country to see the progress on their barn. They have the barn built and a small "apartment" in it. We call the apartment "The bunkhouse". My parents are eventually going to live out here full time once they build their house in the next couple of years. This was the first time I had seen the barn, bunkhouse and new pier. It was really amazing! My dad loved having the kiddos there while he fed the fish in the (seriously low) lake that is right by the barn.



He also has bought them a little bench that is perfect for them. They seems to know it was theirs and spent alot of time climbing and sitting on it.



The best part of the morning was when the kids went with Nana and Grandpa on the 4 wheeler. They went super slow and then kids loved it and had huge smiles on their faces!



Later that afternoon we went to my grandparent's house in the small town that is nearby. GG had a lot toys for them to play with on the patio and made us a fabulous ham dinner that the twins totally loved!

My poor baby

Look what his sister did to him . . .totally kidding. My poor baby Pete. We were having so much fun on Friday afternoon playing in the living room when we heard a blood curdling scream from behind the couch. He had pulled over a wine cabinet on top of himself. Unfortunately, the wine cabinet has a piece of thick marble on top of it. When I ran over to him, the wine cabinet was on top of Pete with the piece of marble in his mouth. Needless to say, he and his daddy spent a few hours in the emergency room while I was at the house with the girls, worried to death.

He is fine, other than the fact that he may loose his tooth. The ER doctor said that we just have to wait and see what is going to happen. We are doing everything to give him soft food and such to get it to reattach. The worst part is he can't have a paci because we don't want it to jiggle that tooth free. So, poor boy has gone cold turkey with the paci's. I tried to keep Miss Avery paci free also to make it fair . . .but she just CAN'T!!! So, Pete's been doing really well, and Avery has only been getting her paci at bed and nap.


Swollen, bumped and bruised . . . isn't he still gorgeous? I think he might just have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. He is going to drive the girls crazy some day . . .

Zoo

Today was our first trip to the zoo! I kept singing the Raffi song "Going to the Zooooo, Zooo, Zooo, How 'bout you, you, you!! Funny thing is, though, the kiddos enjoyed the "tame" animals even better than the caged ones! They loved the birds, and we even saw a bunny hoping through some bushes! If you live in this area you know how beautiful the weather has been for the past few days, so we figured we would take advantage of it. Pete took off work and we headed out early. I really thought it wouldn't be that crowded but I guess it's always crowded! I can't even imagine what it would have been like on the weekend.




The children's zoo area was really the best for our age kids. They have a little petting zoo with goats that were just laying around. In that area you can get a little closer to the llamas and the cows, so the kids liked that. The other "big" attractions were a bit lost on our kiddos. They of course liked the elephant and the giraffes, but the others were a little harder for them to see.




We walked around the park a little bit afterwards. Something I figured out on this trip is that it is going to be a LONG time before I attempt an outing like this on my own.

One of the things I love about him

My husband . . . he's a pretty smart guy. I gave him a request and he was eager to help me out. When you first see this stroller you think "Oh how cute, two little ones!" but little do you realize there is another cutie hiding out in the back!




I have been trying to find a triple stroller but have been frustrated with how extremely expensive they are. So we put our heads together and came up with this. It of course will only last for a few more months, but it makes me alot more mobile to be able to go around my neighborhood. We took it to the zoo with us today, but I don't think that I will be able to move it in and out of the car myself, as it is a little big, bulky and heavy (the only drawback!)

Let's go fly a kite

A perfect day for some kite flying fun. . . We thought they would really love it since they love birds. I guess you would say they liked it, but not overly impressed. Avery just wanted to hold it and then watch me run after it.



Whew! Kite flyin' is tough work!
